What Happens When You Pray?

How does a Believer face a real life challenge? Or in other words, what must be consistent in life for us to navigate in His will? In the context of these questions let’s see what was common between these individuals:

  • King David
  • Prophet Daniel
  • Prophet Elijah
  • King Jehoshaphat

Answer: Their prayer life was the common binding factor among them all.

King David and his men were in Ziklag when the Amalekites came and invaded their camp. The enemy took away their wives and children as captives and by the time David and his men returned, they only saw what was left of the rampage. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel‬ ‭30:6‬

Prophet Daniel was put into the den of hungry lions and Elijah was challenged by 400 prophets of Baal. There was nothing both of them could have done out of their own physical strength to prove that the Lord was with them. However, both of them prayed and guess what! God performed wonders on their part. Daniel was a praying man, he prayed thrice everyday. Thus, the Lord sent His Angels and shut the hungry lions mouths, so they couldn’t harm him. Daniel 6:21,22. As for Elijah, he prayed a small prayer and God sent fire from heaven and proved Himself before the prophets of Baal. 1 kings 18:19-40.

Similarly, during the reign of King Jehoshaphat, three different and powerful enemies came against the Israelites. They were the Moabites, the Ammonites together with some of the Meunites. 2 Chronicles 20:1. Jehoshaphat did not have the strength to fight against these enemies. So, he gathered the whole of Judah — their wives, children and little children before the Lord and proclaimed a fast. God fought their battle and handed them a great victory! 2 Chronicles 20:22-26.

Dear child of God remember:

When we face any challenge we face it with all our being. Spirit, soul and body. Thinking, feeling and doing is involved. When we pray we prepare every aspect of ourselves. Unless we do not put our full trust in God, no matter what the result, we will find our spiritual self devastated or decaying slowly.

It is necessary to surrender ourselves to God, lay all our burdens into Him so we can wait and hope for the best in life. So, we are ready to accept what comes our way.Never let anything or anyone distract you from your time with God. Give all your heart to God, Jesus is coming soon.

Be blessed 💕
