What happens when we wait in the Lord?

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Waiting in the Lord gives us strength. 'Seek the Lord , and his strength: seek his face evermore. ' Psalms 105:4

How to wait in the Lord? In prayer, praise and fellowship. There isn’t another way.

Who can wait in the Lord? True believers. Those who obey the Word of God.

What is this strength for? Our spiritual life, so, spiritual strength for daily life. A spiritually minded man is full of life and peace. He or she learns to overcome fleshly lusts through the strength he or she receives from God.

When do we need this strength? All the time. Spiritual warfare is always present. It’s not against people, it’s against evil powers of darkness that affect your spirit man.

It’s easy to avoid people, and begin to fool yourself that all is well. That is the reason many don’t go to church. Their personal grudges with members keep them away from fellowship. Many stay away because of their own sinful natures they feel can’t be overcome.

Spiritual warfare happens all the time, whether you are alone or around people. The only intention of the enemy is to fill your heart with hate and bitterness against people, and stay unforgiving. To fill your mind with hopelessness so your heart fails to apply Gods word in your life.

Why do we need strength?

  1. Fly high
  2. Run without being weary
  3. Walk without fainting

To mount up with wings as eagles, is to fly high. As believers we must seek a higher spiritual standard found only in the Word of God. A believer who holds high standards is a natural prayer warrior. He is always walking in the Spirit, available to heed the voice of God.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:8, 9)

When you run physically, you will face weariness, but the spirit may be willing. Our spiritual expectation must be clear. Love does not make us weary. Ever heard of a weary lover? No, because they do not exist. The Love of God produces a faith in us to run without getting weary and walk without fainting, holding onto the truth till the very end.

For in Jesus Christ …; but faith which worketh by love. Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. (Galatians 5:6-8)

Whatever you are going through in life. No matter what! Mentally, emotionally, physically... Wait on the Lord.

Great wonders and miracles have happened by simply praising God when we are absolutely clueless about what to do. The simple praise must come out of a heart of gratitude and brokenness that reflects sincerity to the One who knows and understands it all.
