What happens when we seek the kingdom of God?
These days everyone is seeking everything else, but the kingdom of God and His righteousness! The entire chapter of Mathew 6 is about Jesus explaining to the people, on how they should be living their lives on earth. Unlike our times, these were ordinary folks who could afford to stay for long and hear a sermon; that too on a mount. Well, because they happily gave their time to hear the preacher preaching, who was none else than Jesus Himself; they were blessed to hear gemlike snippets of daily life lessons!!
Who doesn’t think about food, shelter and clothing? 🤔 We all do, isn’t it? But there are two groups of people here. One, who have bound themselves in the pursuit of fulfilling their needs and satisfying themselves. The other, who indeed go to some extent of fulfilling their needs but however stop halfway realising that the desires of a man can never be fully satisfied!! They reach a point where they become exhausted and tired of all that seeking and fulfilling of desires! But then, that’s where Jesus steps in and explains a few things:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew‬ â€6:33‬
What is the Kingdom of God?
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans‬ â€14:17‬. The kingdom of God Jesus is referring here is a heavenly kingdom. You know, before creating man the Lord God prepared everything that man would need, well in advance. God prepared the beautiful Garden of Eden and then formed/created man and placed him there. Adam didn’t have to do anything there - no sweating or fretting! God provided all his needs. Righteousness refers to obedience to the laws and commandments God has given us.
Jesus assures us that when we seek God and His righteousness, then all that we need on earth will be provided by God Himself. Not only that He will bless us with His peace, joy and righteousness!
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew‬ â€6:31-33‬
May the Lord help us to seek Him all the days of our lives — so that not only our needs are fulfilled, but we are able to enjoy Him as King over our life!
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Proverbs‬ â€10:22‬
Be blessed! đź’•
