The truth hurts.
Why does the truth hurt? It exposes a persons lies.
What happens when a person is exposed? He feels ashamed, guilty, and betrayed. Sometimes it turns into terrible anger.
What does love have to do with the truth?
God is love. Jesus is the Truth. God’s love, Jesus, set us free from the terrible lies of the devil. Those who do not know Jesus, live in loneliness, or depression. Some even harbour suicidal thoughts, ending their precious lives.
When we keep the Word of Truth in our lives, daily, God’s love is perfected in us.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. (1 John 2:5)
When we love our brethren we are in the light. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. Anyone who lives in the light of the Word of God will not fall.
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1 John 2:10
Those who rejected Gods love tried to bury the truth. They crucified Jesus, put him in a tomb. Love crucified arose! You cannot bury the truth full of love!
Paul and Silas loved God. They rejected their lifestyles for the glory of God and abode in His word. When they were chained and jailed, they did not worry about their future or upcoming dangers. They worshipped the Lord in spirit and in truth. God delivered them. You cannot chain the truth abiding in love!
As Christians when we speak the truth, we must do so in love. Many rejected Jesus, they will reject us too. Nevertheless, we should grow in love and in truth to bring Jesus to a dying world.
