What Does “Being A Dust” Mean?

Jesus made Himself in the likeness of man. This means He made Himself as a dust — as an insignificant person. We are also made out of dust.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis‬ ‭2:7

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis‬ ‭3:19‬

WELL, DO WE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE DUST?

For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Psalms‬ ‭103:14‬

God is a God who remembers us. If we have to be in the remembrance of God, we need to always remind ourselves that we are dust. When we do so, God will never forget us — ...O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me. Isaiah 44:21.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; Psalms‬ ‭113:7‬

The Lord God raises up all those who humble themselves, those who are poor in spirit. Being raised up means — there will be a change of character in us; God does this work by letting us go through paths of humiliation. Therefore, when we humble ourselves, God will lift us up at the right time. On the contrary, if we get offended, angry or sorrowful when humiliated by others, the work of character transformation slows down till it comes to a standstill.

Abraham, the friend of God used to speak with God as friend to friend. They were so close to each other so much so that, before doing something He would share His plans with Abraham. Even then look at Abraham words while speaking with God.

And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Genesis‬ ‭18:27‬

There are 2 important things mentioned here:

  • God will hear us if we are dust
  • We can talk to God if we are dust.

When a person truly acknowledges that he/she is a dust, they will accept correction which in turn will bring forth repentance in them. May God help us to always have a broken heart and a contrite spirit, because such a sacrifice is accepted by God.

Be blessed 💕
