I was reading Colossians, and felt convicted about two critical qualities a Christian needed to have. In a time of deception and confusion, what’s the two most important qualities a Christian must possess?
A life of Prayer and Thanksgiving
The power in prayer and thanking God is underestimated by most Christians. That’s exactly what the enemy wants. The lesser you pray the better for him. I’ve found it’s easier to do anything else but pray. Our minds are so occupied with earthly needs which burdens us to worry more and pray less. It’s easier to preach, and be in the action, but to pray, being still and pouring yourself before God is becoming difficult. It’s a battle, spiritual warfare that’s much more evident now than ever before.
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Colossians 4:2-4
How does praying help? It opens up a door of utterance to speak the mystery of Christ. Not only for us, but also for all those who are out in the battlefield ministering for the glory of God.
Walking in Revelation
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:5,6
More people are hopeless today than ever before. Intelligence, or knowledge has increased but love has waxed cold. Specially among Christians. As the world reels in the explosion of sin and despair, it’s the need of the hour for Christians to walk in Godly wisdom and revelation. It’s time to redeem the time, meaning, make the most of the time before us to further the kingdom of God. Now is the time to share Christ’s love with all those around us. There is much negativity in people’s lives owing to systemic failures. Man is desperate to hear the truth. Not sweet words. But, the truth. Christians are best positioned to share the word of God in love to those in need.
May God help us all.
