How To Know You Are In The Will Of God?

Staying in the will of God isn't an impossible ask. Everyday we have so many decisions to make. Major and minor decisions all depending on what we think is a big decision or small. Every decision is a step closer to changing the course of our life.

Do you decide based on how you feel? Or do you decide on what God has already said in His word?

When we decide according to God’s revealed word, we are doing His will, even if it means going against our own desires.

When we pray “Not I, but your will be done O Lord” it requires an action on our part; to obey His word. When we obey His word, the nourishing Spirit of God powers our walk of faith and blesses our lives. When we don’t we will need to be ready to accept the trials and temptations that come our way because of our disobedience.

A closer walk with God saves us from so many problems we would have otherwise had to face. God is kind and merciful to sincere repentant believers. When we stick to His word, He will guide us in time for all our needs to be met.

The Bible clearly tells us what the will of God is; but how to know we are still in His will? How to be confident that we are still doing each day what God wants?

Staying in the will of God

The only way to stay in his will is by having a diligent personal prayer life and fellowship, and meditating on the Word, everyday. Where we learn to hear the voice of Jesus (John 10:27) and move in the unction of the Holy Spirit.

I’ve had some major decisions to make in life which was impossible for me in the time; career choice, organisation choice, marriage, resigning from a job to be with my mother in a professionally dry land (jobless for over 4 years now), to name a few. I have been blank in an interview in fear, only to top it the next time by faith - to the extent where the same CEO began taking notes of some of my statements.

• King David was a man of prayer, a practice that helped him to humble himself in God's presence.
• Daniel, Shadrach, Meschech and Abednego were prayer warriors who received their strength from God to stand during trials.
• Jesus stayed in God's will because He did only what the Father in heaven wanted.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Every believer has to build their personal relationship with Jesus without which it is impossible to stay in God's will. It only makes sense, He is our goal, He is our love. May God help us fulfil His perfect will in our lives as we await His coming. Praise God and Amen1
