How To Know If Someone is God’s Enemy?

Trust me!! Being God’s friend is much more worthwhile than being His enemy. But our sinful self is such, that, becoming enemies of God comes quickly and naturally to us.

Search your life and see if you have any of these points mentioned below, in you. If you have, set it right by confessing to God and forsaking them from your life.

1. Luke 19:27 - But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Those who don’t want God to reign over them are God’s enemies. This was the state of the Israelites in their wilderness journey. “God reigning over us” may sound tyrannical and dictatorial. But it’s not like that.

The Israelites became so scared of God that they begged Samuel to appoint a king over them - 1 Samuel 12:19. They lacked the revelation that when God would lead them, He would lead them lovingly. Because He loved them, He sent Moses to deliver them out of the cruel bondage of Pharoah. But, they rejected God from being king over them.

2. Luke 19:22 - And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

God wants us to be good and faithful servants. The servant mentioned in Luke 19:22 was given 1 talent to trade and gain more for the master. He went ahead and hid his talent. After his master returned he placed a convenient excuse before him, which led him towards his doom.

By not using the talents given to us, for His glory, we become the enemies of God.

3. Romans 8:7 - Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

A Carnal mind refers to an earthly mind. If we are carnally minded we are enemies to God and not acceptable to Him. A carnal mind always worries for unfulfilled desires. After obeying God in water baptism, one must delight upon God alone for their desires to be fulfilled.

Now, being carnally minded also means we have not come under the Royal Law of God. According to James, this law is the law of love and it needs to be written in our mind and heart. Living by faith pleases God. Praying with uprightness in our hearts, pleases God. When we praise God, that pleases Him.

4. James 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

The message here is clear and simple. The world is filled with its cares, sorrows, fashions, traditions, worldly wisdom, etc. If these aspects of the world are found in us, we are enemies of God.

1 John2:15 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Love of the world pulls a person away from God.

May God help us to love Him more each passing day so that we are always found in the centre of His will.
