How To Identify A Hypocrite?

Who is a hypocrite? The one who knows God, chooses to live in sin, and identifies himself as a believer.

Jesus, when He talks about the Pharisees and scribes warns his disciples to observe and do what they say but not to follow them because they do not practice what they preach. They push others to bear heavy burdens but won’t do a thing themselves. When they do, it’s only to show off to others (Matthew23:3-5)

They are well versed with scriptures but are religious and no have no relationship with God.

John the Baptist, called them a brood of vipers because of their lack of any repentance in their lives.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: (Matthew 3:7,8)

A Hypocrite Lives A Double Life

A double life is a costly life and will cost those who continue to live in it.

Ananias and Sapphira, promised one thing but delivered a lie. They died immediately, on the spot. Right in front of Peter as the Holy Spirit revealed their lie to Peter. They were trying to show off their love for God, only to be destroyed by the Satan who had already filled their heart, which consumed them.

This world needs Jesus and believers need to stand like Jesus, in all humility and lowliness of heart. Be intentional about crushing every form of hypocrisy in our lives in prayer and meditation of God’s word.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
