How to be guided by Truth? (Part ⅓)
Every human being needs a guide. Without a guide we would be lost.
I want to share three ways to be guided by the truth.
Ask
To ask, we need to know whom to ask. One needs to know the guide, trust in them before really being committed to be guided by them. Naturally, we’ve grown up listening to, being influenced by those around us - parents or guardians, teachers or mentors, religious leaders, successful people, etc. Now, having experienced the world ourselves, we know their understanding is limited. We learn there’s more to life than what we see, hear, or feel.
We need the truth that encompasses all.
God presented Himself to us in the garden of Eden to respond to our every need. Adam and Eve lived in the abundance of God’s provision. They lacked nothing, they had more than they could ask or think. It was the perfect lifestyle on earth.
The Book of Genesis reveals how sin disrupted their clean and pure living because of disobedience. The free life became a struggling one. Life wasn’t the same anymore. Man became more divided and began to carry out their many inventions. Man chose to do his own will rather than God’s.
But, all those who turned to God and asked His help were again blessed abundantly. He is the loving Father who forgives to heal and restore and fulfill all joy. In the presence of God there is fullness of Joy (Psalms 16:11)
Every born again believer's identity is found in Christ alone. All others are “Christians” or whatever they want to call themselves.
What is the identity of a believer? ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9)
What is he on earth for? To show forth the praises of God (1 Peter 2:9)
Where did he come from? A terrible darkness, into this marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9)
We were lost once, but God had mercy and revealed Himself to us through the precious sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary which took away our sins. Through the Resurrection He gave us a victory over death.
Come believing and ASK
The Syrophenician woman was a Gentile, a non believer (Matthew 15:22-28). She recognised Jesus as Lord. She fell at His feet for the deliverance of her daughter who was possessed with unclean spirits. She knew only God could help her. She did not just ask Jesus, she won His heart to receive deliverance for her daughter. Get into the heart of worship, desire earnestly and humbly, and you will hear from God.
Be a child and ASK
Concerning the baptism of the Holy Spirit, in Luke 11:9-13, Jesus compares the earthly father with the Heavenly Father.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:13)
ASK and receive your victory
When we ask God as children, He provides. In these last days, many are living in confusion and hopelessness. This should not be the state of a child of God, no matter what happens to them. As children we must learn to come boldly to the throne of God and ASK to receive.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
To all those who need victory over hopelessness or loneliness or anxiety, ask Jesus, He is wisdom, He is the Truth. He will guide you to victory.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5)
