Isn’t life a daily battle? It’s either school, college or workplace. Each one poses its own set of challenges. How you deal with your situations will depend on how you set your expectations.
Meditating on Ephesians 6:10-20 helps me focus on the real battle during my journey of life. When sin entered mankind, man lost his connection with God. Since then man has been trying to connect spiritually to a higher power. Till he connects with God, he remains enslaved by his physical desires. His spirit strives to excel without acknowledging God’s Grace because his spirit is dead to God and alive to the carnal, natural or needs of the physical senses.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11
The Bible instructs me to put on the whole armour of God. Not any man-made, physical armour but a Godly, spiritual armour. I have an enemy and he isn’t human. He is the devil, or Satan, etc. who is a deceitful, manipulative, and literal-spiritual enemy. We are spiritual beings, not just physical beings.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
The enemy operates in the supernatural. Not flesh and blood. He can use flesh and blood (humans or animals) to disrupt my walk with God and from growing in the truth. This verse reveals four different kinds of evil spiritual forces – principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. Clearly deserves another post.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13
The Word of God instructs to take the whole armour of God. It doesn’t say, fight, but to stand. Which means I will be attacked but with the armour I’ll be able to stand, as God takes me through the trial and makes me victorious. We become an overcomer only when trials come. Having done all refers to putting on the armour daily, building oneself in all the aspects of the armour before the trial. How can we stand? Only when we put on those aspects of the armour in our lifestyle and trust in God, will we receive the victory.
What is the armour of God? An armour has 6 key features to it. I will be sharing them in separate posts.
