Do you forget God easily?

Why do we forget God easily? How is it that we fail to trust in God even after all He has done for us?

The widow at Zarephath had just received a miracle of nonstop supply (till famine ends) of bread and oil from God through Elijah. She and her son were about to have their last meal and die. She gave their last meal to Elijah instead. When they obeyed, God blessed them with His abundance in a time of famine and dearth. Did she realise she was led by God to provide for His servant?

The moment her son died of a sickness, she questioned Elijah and accused him of bringing trouble into her house. Elijah turned to God for the sake of the widow and God brought the child to life. Only then did she fully realise that Elijah was a man of God and his word was truth.

Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.” (1 Kings 17:24)

We cannot forget God easily if we stay in His presence

How often we fail to recognise God’s ways and give in to the current problems. The woman was going to die along with the child during the famine itself, but she heeded the voice of the servant of God and was saved from death. Her obedience to the man of God brought her unlimited food. She and her son never hungered through the entire famine.

Yet, when her son died, her mind was clouded with grief and she began to accuse the man of God who saved her in the first place.

How quickly we forget the majesty and might of God! How easily we turn against true people of God.

Israel too, quickly forgot God in the middle of an amazing journey (Psalms 106:13). They went against God's chosen in Moses and Aaron. God still showed mercy on Israel when Moses cried out to God for them. They forgot the mighty wars they won by the power of God.

Let’s humble ourselves before our Almighty God who loves us with an everlasting love. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will guide our hearts in Him enabling us to stay reminded of who He is, and who we really are. All good in us comes from God, it's key we never forget this fact.

Jesus is coming soon, Praise God and Amen!
