Without God’s Love We Are Nothing
Without God's love, we are nothing. Scripture highlights seven major good works of believers and reveals them as useless without love.
(1 Corinthians 13:1-3)
Speak all the languages of earth and angels
Gift of prophecy
Understood all of God’s secret plans
Possessed all knowledge
Faith to move mountains
Give everything to the poor
Sacrificed my body (boast about it)
All of the above are good works or good found in every believer's life. The first five points are gifts of God.
The last two points are common knowledge to all. Even non-believers give to the poor and sacrifice their bodies for good works. But in a believer's life, they are Spirit-led actions, not self-improving activities.
Paul understood Jesus clearly. He knew what Jesus desired and revealed what it means to love like Jesus (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
We see all seven points in Paul's life. He was an ordained apostle. Despite all the gifts and sacrifices during his apostolic ministry, he learnt that love is the most excellent way (1 Corinthians 12:31).
TWO ESSENTIAL POWERS IN GOD'S LOVE THAT WE NEED TODAY ARE;
The ability to forgive
The ability to overcome the fear that torments
God's love alone can help us forgive others. Man doesn't understand forgiveness in the way Jesus revealed to us with His life, death, and resurrection. Stephen displayed the excellent love of Christ while being stoned to death as he forgave them. (Acts 7:60)
God's love alone can drive out fear that torments (1 John 4:18). Elijah got delivered from tormenting fear because of Jezebel's threat.
Dear believer, sin is increasing around us, and the love of many has waxed cold. Seek a new and fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and receive love poured into your hearts. (Romans 5:5)
Love, and let love. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
