Where Is The Battle?
As believers, we are always at war. Every day. Every hour.Whether it's physical or mental, the battle is raging against those who love the Lord, or have newly started seeking God.The most ignored area of battle is the mind. Yet, scripture directs us to guard the loins of our mind, to stay focused on heavenly matters. Our thoughts and imaginations matter to God. We need to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).How we think, what we think, etc. is critical to our daily walk. It's necessary for us to walk in the sound mind God has given us to remain victorious in these daily battles. How must a believer be?When we read Proverbs 16:1, the word of God says that the preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. What does it mean? A man led by the Spirit would speak out of the abundance of his heart prepared by God. It refers to a walk surrendered to the leading of the Holy Spirit. A man who considers himself nothing will always depend on God for all things. He will walk under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, his thoughts and desires will be in accordance to God's will, not his own selfish ones (Read Galatians 5:16). He will always depend on God to guide his thoughts, continually seeking Him (Psalms 139:23).What is the nature of the sinful man?In Proverbs 16:2, the scripture says, a man's ways are clean in his own eyes. but the Lord weighs his spirit. It's human nature to consider your own ways right. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Jesus even warned the disciples concerning their natural fervour in Luke 9:54-56. To man, his own way seems right, but it leads into destruction (Proverbs 16:25).How will a believers thoughts be established in Christ?Proverbs 16:3 reveals that when we commit our works to God, He will establish our thoughts. When we live each day acknowledging God in all we think, say and do (Colossians 3:17), our thoughts will be cemented in the foundation of His holy word. We will then learn to make our daily decisions in light of God's Word, walking in victory, pleasing him in all His ways.
