What Is Grace? (Part 1/2)

Once upon a time there was a very rich man. He was the lord of his entire estate and household. He was very handsome to look upon too - a perfect man with good looks and an attractive personality. His servants admired him. Those who worked for him were very satisfied and happy with their dear loving master. In short, there was never any kind of dearth for him nor his servants. But he was also a very humble man. Inspite of his wealth and riches, he had a heart that cared for the poor. He did help people whenever they came to him. Nevertheless his heart longed still more to help people in need, even if that meant to sacrifice all of his riches away. One day, while going somewhere, he found a poor homeless boy on the streets. The boy had tattered clothes on and sat there with a begging bowl in his hand. He was dirty, perhaps his mother had left him alone and gone away. There were half dried tears on his cheeks and his eyes looked sympathetically across everyone who passed by him. This rich man was also crossing that way when all of a sudden his eyes fell on this boy. He stopped immediately and looked at that child. He understood the child hadn't eaten and therefore was crying. His heart melted. He loved children. He walked towards the child, took him in his arms and hugged him. He didn't care about what the people with him would be thinking seeing this act! Since the child was abandoned, he took him home and cleaned him, himself. There were tears in the rich man's eyes too. After giving the child a thorough wash, he dressed him with good clothes and made him to sit on his regal dining table. There were choicest food, of different variety on the table. The child was so happy, he forgot all of his suffering and the rich man adopted him as his son. The rich man had made up his mind and decided that this was going to be his mission. Because he had a heart that loved broken people and children he was ready to forsake his own glory. He took up the begging bowl himself and went around that entire city looking for the destitute and broken. He rescued them from their misery and brought them into his own house. This Is Not Just A Story. May I take this opportunity to introduce you to this Rich Man. His Name Is Jesus. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. This is exactly what Jesus did for you and me - 2 Cor 8:9

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Jesus is the joy of the whole heaven and earth. In heaven, He was filled with majesty and splendour. He is His Father's delight and Beloved Son. Our mere feeble words would be insufficient to describe this. And the entire story you just read above is the explanation of God's Grace upon us. The full form of GRACE is God's Riches At Christ's Expense. We were not at all worthy of this grace. Had not Jesus had mercy on us we would still have been in the drudgery of sin and sickness and misery. But the Bible tells us that,

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭
