Trust In God, And Overcome Impatience

Everything has to be now! That's how we feel when we work. All our lives, mostly, we've been pushed to hurry up!

Get this done now! Parents, teachers, managers, etc., a never-ending trend. Let's not forget the speed technology provides, turning us into tech addicts.

Times earlier required more patience. Communication with someone would take days or weeks amidst follow-ups with the post office. Today, we email followed by a text to the person you've sent an email to! Further followed by a call the next day asking, have you received my email?

We've forgotten how to wait. We've lost the character of patience. Worse, we no more wait on God for our needs. The abundant supply (thanks to God's mercy) has become a problem because we are too engaged with earthly matters.

THE NEED FOR SPEED TAKES OVER WHEN WE DO NOT PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD

Israel became a slave to their desires and needs for speed. When they did not get what they wanted immediately, they would make decisions that revealed their trust in man rather than God. (Isaiah 30:1,2)

Our impatience today, coupled with financial and material abundance, has turned us away from seeking God for all things. We make plans without God, run to worldly counselors for guidance, and end up further away from God.

When we do not wait on God and seek a better life, we sin in the eyes of God. Impatience is addictive and pushes us into unnecessary trouble. Sometimes, like Saul, many end in destruction. Or Simon, who thought he could purchase the power of bringing down the Holy Spirit on others.

God desires we end in perfect peace and rest. Let's seek grace and strength in this hour of need to stay faithful till the end. Wait in prayer as the day of Christ gets closer. Maranatha, praise God, and Amen.
