The Spirit Of Pride Enslaves
Pride is the most dangerous and deadly spirit of sin. It owns the person it resides in. By "own", I mean it enslaves us. It rules us (Genesis 4:7).
The spirit of Pride enslaved Cain to the extent that he killed his brother. He disregarded godly advice, letting his feelings of anger and hatred take control, eventually killing Abel.
Where did the spirit of Pride come from?
Pride was birthed in the heart of Lucifer. There was no sin in heaven. He wanted to take over the throne of His Creator. He misused his freedom to remain condemned forever. Did he immediately get condemned? Not necessarily, considering God first questioned man before sending him out of the garden. God is the epitome of patience, after all!
When the spirit of Pride owns a person, he lies and continues to justify his actions and follows the path of sin into manipulation.
Ananias and Sapphira were filled with a love for money and lied to Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit. They had already given their heart to money and ended up dead.
Adam disobeyed God's word and tried to justify his actions by blaming God and Eve. Pride made him disobey God and blame others.
Herod was too proud and enjoyed the praise and adoration of men and ended up being consumed by worms.
When Pride owns us, we immediately speed on the road to spiritual and eternal death.
Never take the sin of Pride casually. It needs to be addressed immediately by humbling ourselves in the presence of God. Repenting over the thought or action and seeking strength to overcome it in the future if it ever surfaces.
Fix your eyes on Jesus. He is humble and lowly-hearted. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
