Spirit And Truth Worship

Why do believers get easily tired in their spiritual walk? Why does 'church' sometimes feel lifeless? Why is it hard to pray or focus on prayer?

The answer is in John 4:23,24 where Jesus hints about the spiritual explosion before it happened in Acts 2:1-4.

Jesus said that those who worship God must worship him in Spirit and Truth.

Paul writes in Galatians 5:17 that you cannot do what you want as a believer because the flesh fights against the spirit.

The inner man or the human spirit requires nourishment. Just like the body needs its food. The human spirit is corrupted because of sin. It is full of fleshly passion and pride in life. It only knows how to think for itself.

The Spirit of God strengthens us by His Word of truth to stand against every spiritual wickedness and work of Satan.

SPIRIT-LED spirit

Only the Holy Spirit can transform the human spirit to produce the fruit of the Spirit. The Bible teaches that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. The willingness of the spirit is overcome by the weak flesh because we do not give room for the Holy Spirit to work in and through us.

In the prayer between the Pharisee and the Publican, one exalts himself and prays in a proud spirit. The other humbles himself in surrender to be guided by God who is Spirit.

TRUTH

Jesus is the truth. The words of Jesus are the truth that cleans us to make us holy. The gospel is the good news of peace and holiness. When we obey the truth by the power of the Holy Spirit we operate in live worship.

Jesus and the apostles lived like true worshippers because they operated under the guidance of the Spirit in obedience to the truth.

Many believers are ritualistic and turn godly devotion into a fleshly act. Like the Pharisees, they desire positions in church and love the honour of men. Such face great spiritual attacks and often fail during trials.

Dear believer, awake to righteousness! God desires your best and wants to purify you so He can have you for Himself. God alone is our refuge and strength. Worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
