Serve Your Spouse
A husband complained about his wife to God. God told the husband to serve her. A wife complained to God about her husband. God said, serve him. God’s response to both was to SERVE!
The problem with some marriages is that it has turned into a worldly affair. It's no more about serving one another but about what the other can do for them.
The union between man and woman began before sin, in the presence of God. God’s glory and presence kept them together, in peace and rest, mentally, emotionally and physically. God served man in the Garden of Eden, providing them with all their needs.
God served Israel.
Jesus served those who followed Him. He offered Himself as a sacrifice for all those who believe in Him.
The Holy Spirit continues to serve us by helping us live this life in Christ.
Instead of giving love, we still desire more love. That's where everything goes wrong. Also, social (media) conditioning creates unrealistic expectations that some believers buy into being disconnected from God.
When you serve God, He will guide you in your walk on earth. When you pursue God wholeheartedly, He will build you to be a better spouse. When the spouse refuses to fall in line with God's word despite all the sacrifices, repercussions of the disobedience follow. But the obedient spouse needs to continue to intercede for the disobedient one.
These same principles apply to the church. Jesus continues to forgive and forbear us in our journey to be His Bride forever. Jesus continues to be faithful despite our unfaithfulness to Him.
Some things to do on a daily or regular basis are;
Pray together
Study or reflect on the Bible together
Be in fellowship with saints as a couple
God is near to those who seek Him - those who trust God and obey Him. He will make all things good in time. Build your love foundation in Christ to be fruitful for His glory. Favour will come, and joy will get doubled.
Get intentional with Jesus.
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
