Lay Your Burdens At Jesus’ Feet

This skit by The Skit Guys - https://skitguys.com/videos/baggage-skit is old, and these two brothers in Christ present it well. It teaches us that to give God control of our lives, we must lay our burdens before Him.

Why does Jesus want us to lay our burdens before Him?

Until we don't lay our burdens at the feet of Jesus, we cannot take up the light burden of Christ.

WHAT ARE THE BURDENS WE NEED TO LAY AT THE FEET OF JESUS?

The three enemies that will hinder believers from going into the coming of the Lord are the cares, riches and pleasures of this world. They pose mental, emotional and physical burdens in our lives.

1. MENTAL burdens

Worrying about food, clothing, shelter and jobs the necessities of life, and the cares of the world often hinder our faith. We get tensed, and instead of praying about it, we worry, crippling our spirit man from trusting in God's Word.

2. EMOTIONAL burdens

Living in hurt or fear hinders the love of God from working in our lives. Relationship friction in families, fellowship, the workplace can leave us emotionally drained. Getting down to the presence of God will help us see our lives from the correct perspective.

3. PHYSICAL burdens

Sin, sickness, and other fleshly pleasures defile our walk with God. The blood of Jesus, the living word and the power of the Holy Spirit alone can help us overcome it all.

WHAT IS THE LIGHT BURDEN JESUS GIVES US?

Jesus calls us to carry the cross and do His perfect will. What is the will of God concerning your life?

At a basic level, how can we examine our lives per the word of God? Examine your life for these three basic signs.

  1. Are you filling in the Spirit daily and getting a renewal?

  2. Are the gifts of the Spirit operational in your life? (1 Corinthians 12)

  3. Are you joyfully exercising your ministry of grace? (Romans 12)

If not, we need to humble ourselves, seek God's face to be strengthened and stand as a pillar of faith for the house of God. We need to find ourselves in the unity of faith, walking in love and truth.

May the good Lord help us all. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
