‭‭Is Jesus the king of your heart? When He is, you do His will by grace.

Spiritual death is caused by sin ruling over a person (Romans 5:21). But grace guides us in righteousness.

Sin drives a person to obey the lusts of the flesh (‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:12‬). Sinful natures and habits are a result of sin influencing our walk.

Sin cannot dominate those who live by grace (Romans 6:14)

WHAT IS SIN?

• transgression of the law (1 John 3:4)

• all unrighteousness (1 John 5:17) (Romans 1:17)

• knows to do good, but does not do good (James 4:17)

• A high look, a proud heart, And the ploughing of the wicked is sin. (Proverbs 21:4)

• prayerlessness is sin (1 Samuel 12:23)

• hate own brother (1 John 2:11, 3:15, 4:20).

• Bitterness (Hebrews 12:14,15) - Bitterness causes three things: we fail in grace, become troubled, and defile others.

All the above definitions help us understand how deadly sin is and requires overcoming daily. What keeps sin from ruling us? When we offer acceptable sacrifices to God, sin cannot rule us (Genesis 4:7). Cain gave religiously or ritualistically. But Abel gave heartily his best to God.

What makes a sacrifice acceptable to God? Wholehearted devotion.

Jesus displayed a wholehearted devotion by pursuing the will of the Father. Jesus is our example. He did nothing with his mind or strength. Let's seek to live like Jesus daily by His grace in the power of the Holy Spirit.
