How To Meditate On The Word Of God?
Meditating on God's word is about hearing from God so you can walk in His ways. The Psalmist delights in meditation day and night. Meditation is a deliberate effort to course-correct our journey here on earth into eternity with Him.
We understand meditation traditionally as sitting with the Bible and memorizing scripture, just like Israel in Deuteronomy 6:4-9.
Here are two other examples of believers meditating on the word of God.
KING DAVID ENQUIRES AT THE TEMPLE
Psalms 27:4 reveals David's heart. One thing he has desired of the LORD is to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of his life, beholding the beauty of the LORD, and to meditate in his temple.
THE EUNUCH ON THE WAY
The EUNUCH Philip met on the way was hungry to learn the word of God. God fed his hunger by sending Philip to preach the right way. The eunuch left rejoicing in the joy of salvation.
Both King David and the Eunuch exemplified what learning looks like. It's more than rote. It's experiential. Love drives hunger. The humble quest for the truth reaps joy.
Dig into God's word and presence daily. You'll come out joyful and whole. Maranatha, praise God, and amen.
