How To Drink The Heaven's Cup?

Heaven's Cup? Many believers lifestyles have been compromised today as they are heavily invested in earthly (Sports) World Cups, rather than labouring for the kingdom of God. Many are drinking of the cup of earthly life. Desiring recognition, reputation and adulation of men.

James and John desired to sit by Jesus’ left and right. They desired the honour and authority that only God can give. Jesus said it was possible only if they were willing to drink of the cup which is given to them by God.

Helping the least brethren is drinking of Heaven's Cup

When we neglect the servants of God knowing we can be of help to them, then we are not worthy of the kingdom of God.

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:" (Matthew 25:40,42)

Not by might, not by power, but by His Spirit

To drink of Jesus cup, we need to put our own swords back. No fighting for rights but surrender completely for what God desires of us. Not my will, but yours O Lord.

Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? (John 18:11)

Serving believers

We need to be willing to serve believers in Christ Jesus by being a comfort to them.

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. (Matthew 10:42)

The Cup of Righteousness is Heaven's Cup

The cup of righteousness, peace and joy found in the new wine (Holy Spirit). Jesus is our meat and drink (John 6:55). Many disciples chose to leave Christ because they had decided on their own that this life was impossible to live. Not willing to realise that Jesus would help them through it all if only they were willing to believe in Him.

Cup of Fellowship

The cup of fellowship that unites us in Spirit (and truth).

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

The Cup of Holiness

The cup of sanctification and holiness which betrothed us to Him. (1 Corinthians 11:26, 27)

It wasn’t easy for Jesus, it won’t be easy for us; but we are called to do exactly what Jesus did, deny self to fulfil the will of the Father in Heaven (Matthew 26:42)

Our time to drink with Jesus forever is coming soon (Mark 14:25). Called to be a pure virgin in Christ, let’s prepare ourselves to meet the Lord. Praise God & Amen.
