Being correct is more important than being right
Being correct vs being right, is this a play on words or does the statement hold ground?
Have you ever wondered about your life, and thought what is the point of all this? We can do all the right things and still feel vacant and empty inside. Paul mentions some amazing points that are relevant even today, specially for the church.
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not [a]love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing. If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [b]to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.
Paul, The apostle | 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Without God's love, I am nothing. I need God's love without whom (John 15:5) I can do nothing as well. We may be speaking in tongues, operating in various spiritual gifts, or giving to the poor; it doesn't matter without God's love.
Being Correct Requires Knowing the Father
The elder son lived with the Father. Served him daily. Preserved the wealth. Did whatever the Father wanted him to do. He was always with his dad. His dad was with him always.
Yet, he felt neglected. How do we know?
When there was a celebration in his house because of his brothers return, he did not know why, neither enquired personally (Luke 15:26). He was too used to doing the right thing that he was missing out the greater joy of life. The joy of salvation! His own brother had repented and was restored spiritually. Instead he got angry and began complaining.
He had lost his vision of the life he was living. He had become bitter and hard hearted, unable to experience the joy of the Lord.
Now is the time to renew our love, peace, joy and hope. Now is the time to be stirred for the glory of God, the time to celebrate love: God’s everlasting, amazing love. Jesus is coming soon. Praise the Lord and Amen.
