Being A Servant Of God

How encouraged do you remain after you are poorly treated? Do you live with the same gusto?

If you love the work you do, nothing can stop you. You will forge ahead despite the challenges.

Umpteen stories surface on social media about beating the odds and finding that perfect life. People share their struggles and sacrifices they are making to make a name for themselves or drive attention to their business.

HOW TO BE A RELENTLESS SERVANT OF GOD?

In 1 Thessalonians 2, we read about how Paul and the apostles ministered during great trials.

Paul got shamefully treated at Philippi. Yet, he boldly declared the gospel in the middle of affliction. Paul and the Apostles often suffered at the hands of persecutors. Yet, they grew bolder and lived towards the furtherance of the gospel.

Despite their opposition, their delivery of the gospel remained unbiased and full of love

PLEASING GOD

They never preached to please people [to gain power and popularity], but to please God, who examines hearts [expecting the best]. They did not speak words of flattery nor with a pretext for greed.

EARNED MONEY TO DISTRIBUTE

They behaved gently among believers, like a devoted mother tenderly caring for her children. They worked night and day [practising trade] in order not to be a [financial] burden to any of them while they proclaimed the gospel of God.

LOVED LIKE A FATHER

Exhorting, and encouraging and imploring each one as a father does [in dealing with] his children to live lives worthy of God.

These attributes and manner of life are for all Christians. Not just apostles. Is Jesus your reason to breathe? Are you labouring for Jesus daily? Give up the luxury lifestyle and get down to lead and feed those who need Christ.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
