Be Like Esther, The Fearless Queen
Among the many amazing women in the Bible, I find Esther among the most inspiring. She, along with Mordecai and the Israelites were in captivity under the leadership of a heathen king called king Ahasuerus.
The story of Esther is that of great fearlessness.
To be like Esther, meditate on these 10 amazing qualities evident in her life
- Obedience: She was obedient to Mordecai even as Queen. Like she was obedient when she was raised by him as his own daughter. (Esther 2:20)
- Patience: she waited till the time was right to meet with the King and plead concerning his decree. (Esther 5:4)
- Favoured: she was favoured by one and all. Specially Hegai her manager and the King. A woman that knew the beauty and power of subjection. (Esther 2:14,15)
- Trust-worthy: she could be trusted with keeping information (her Jewish heritage). She was trusted to do what was in her power. (Esther 2:10)
- Faith: she trusted God and went before the king even though the king never summoned her. (Esther 4:11/5:2)
- Caring: She cared for Mordecai’s needs. (Esther 4:4)
- Selfless: she was willing to die for the sake of Israel (Esther 4:16)
- Loved God and Israel (Esther 4:16). Like Jesus, she loved God and mankind.
- She exercised great self control in the presence of a mighty king. To face him during a crisis needs a balanced mind and heart.
- Faithful: she remained dedicated throughout her time as queen to ensure she saw Israel free.
Well, there are so many gems in her story. When you read the stories in the Bible, and try to get into character, it will terrify you. It becomes more evident to us, our frailty and God’s magnanimous ways. Esther was Queen, but to her, Jehovah was her everything.
Dear brother, sister, is God truly your everything? Are you willing to give up all you desire to fulfil the will and plan of God? Like Esther, who gave up all her dreams and desires to follow solid counsel and fulfil God’s will for Israel.
The time is here as we approach the day of Christ. Awake, arise and shine your light in humility and faithfulness to the only who deserves the praise and glory. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
