Are You Listening to God?
Are you meditating on the Word of God everyday? As a Christian, if you aren't talking and hearing from God, you will hurt yourself and others.
In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem. 2 Samuel 11:1
David was a King appointed by God. Instead of going into battle or at least staying busy revisiting strategies at home during a war, he stayed in his palace, wandering about.
What happened because of it? How did that cost him and others? In short, he wandered to the roof after leaving his bed, saw beautiful Bathsheba naked, slept with her, got her husband killed. What a terrible thing for a man of God to do! Adultery and Murder, Deceit and Betrayal.
Too much for anyone to digest when it's a great hero who falls in a trap. What did David lack? Nothing. He had done great exploits in the name of the Lord. Yet, a faithful and mighty King like David fell ended up displeasing God.
We learn much good from the life of David. We should also learn from his errors. How are you preserving your walk with God? Had David communed with God after he got up from bed, he would have saved himself. He would not have wandered.
Today, soon as we get up from bed, our hands reach for the mobile phone and we end up giving room to sin. Rather than spending time with God early in the morning, we are more driven to achieve great things in the world. You may not sin immediately, but the consistent wandering online brings many a downfall.
We are in the last days, and the enemy has amped up his attack on believers. There is no more room for complacency and comfortable living. Burn for Jesus, live for Him alone. Meditate on His Word day and night. Guard your heart and mind and prepare others along the way.
Jesus is coming soon!
