7 Gifts Every Believer Must Walk In! (Part-1)

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:7‬

Of the many things written by St.Paul in his letter to the Corinthian church, he boldly exhorts them not to come behind in any gift. The beauty of this church was that God had blessed them with all the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Similarly, it is also God’s desire that we, the New Testament church, waiting for the coming of Jesus, do not come behind in any spiritual gift. However, apart from this, there are certain other gifts as well that the Scripture helps us understand. What are they?

  • Jesus HimselfThanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. 2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:15‬. For a believer Jesus Himself is a gift given to him/her by the Heavenly Father. He came to this earth, took the form of a man, lived and served like a servant to those around Him. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans‬ ‭6:23‬. Through Jesus the sinful man receives eternal life.
  • The Blood of Jesus — The blood of Jesus is a gift to a believer because this precious blood of the Lamb, cleanses him from all sin and restores the once lost relationship with His Saviour, all over again. You and me have been bought with a price. Therefore, we must glorify God through our life. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John‬ ‭1:7‬.
  • Death of Jesus — The death of Jesus on the cross of Calvary is a gift because through His death, He reconciled us back with God our Saviour. We, who were once dead in sins and trespasses, had no way of being restored back to God, until the perfect sacrifice of Jesus was done! Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Hebrews‬ ‭2:14‬. Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary so that through His death He could destroy the power of death!
