God loves a cheerful giver because He is One

God’s love is a love that gives. He gave us freely many gifts for us to give to others.

God gave us the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8), so we can share Christ with others.

He gave us the gifts of grace (Romans 12:6-8), to give according to His will.

God gave us the gifts in the baptism of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10), so we can be of edification, exhortation and comfort to others. Behold his mighty things, and reveal to the world, setting people free from captivity.

Be a cheerful giver

Dear Spirit Baptised Believer, you say, you have no gift? That is a lie of the devil. You are already gifted. Stop looking at your weaknesses and inadequacies, stop being selfish and start giving all you have. You were created to glorify God. Daily.

It’s not how much you have, it’s how you give. Cheerfully. Joyfully. Happily. Jesus did it for us. It’s your turn now. It’s my turn now!

Give.

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7‬

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

Matthew 10:8

Ananias and Sapphira were self-seeking believers. They had initially decided to give the full amount for the land they sold. But, when the time came to give, they lied to Peter. Kept part of the money. We know what happened next. Both died on the spot. They chose to obey the Father of lies, rather than the Father of Truth. They were full of greed and lies. There was no joy in their giving because they were reluctant to part with what they had promised.

Dear brother, sister, love conquers every false way in us. The love of God stirs in us an unspeakable joy. A joy that keeps giving. Be of good cheer, and let Jesus guide you to true giving through the Spirit.
