Heaven is not an open-for-all store where you can simply walk in and take what you need.
It is true that when Jesus died on the cross and gave mankind victory over sin, sickness, fear and death to those who believe, Heaven’s door opened for all of mankind. But, it’s not for everyone to simply enter without acknowledging the price paid for it.
What is required to enter Heaven, to inherit the kingdom of God?
A heart and zeal like Caleb. The breastplate of righteousness is a combination of faith and love. Caleb loved God and trusted in the truth of the Word of God. He knew the God he worshipped and by faith was willing to possess the land of Canaan promised for the Israelites. It did not matter to him that the Anakims were Giants and could easily destroy them in face to face combat. Just like David, Caleb revealed the might of God by completely relying on His promises. Caleb’s faithfulness was rewarded by God, as Israel overcame their enemies to finally enter the promised land of Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey.
“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:30-33
